Every now and then, depending on how much time I have and how inspired I am, I explore all those get rich schemes that are all over the web. As you maybe know, I’ve written an article on these schemes – or scams – that you can read here.
However, I rarely sign up with these programs or dig deeper. I guess it IS possible to make big money use SOME of these systems, but I sure don’t want to PAY somebody to get information that doesn’t make any money for ME.
Then we have Tissa Godavitarne and his Acme People Search. You’ve probably seen his ads, since they are all over the internet – he’s the guy who promises you at least 5 within 24 hours and his ads look like this or this.
In February 2009 I thought, what the heck, let’s try it! Let’s see if this guy really pays me 5 or more within 24 hours! Since it was supposed to be free, I signed up.
Big promises. Hardly any work, big money. Income for life. Just create your own People Search Engine. Millions of people all over the world use the Internet to search for family and friends, so there’s lots of money to be made.
Well… To make Tissa’s system work, you need to sign up with WebSite.ws. Now, it’s free to sign up with WS – but to earn money from Tissa, you need to register a web domain, which costs money. Okay, it’s pretty cheap, so I got one.
Okay, Tissa, let the money flow!
…But no… Tissa promises to send lots of money making visitors to my new webpage, where my own People Search Engine is. Will he do this for free? Nope. I have to sign up with some offer, I’ve forgotten what it was, which costs money. Not very expensive, so I signed up.
Okay! Show me the money!
One day later I checked my stats, and yes – my earnings were 5. It said Tissa pays twice a month, and it was about two weeks till the next payment. I spent a week or two posting my links to get more hits and to make people sign up with Tissa and WebSite.ws, so I would earn more than those 125 bucks.
Then I totally forgot about it. I forgot about Tissa, about Acme People Search and about WebSite.ws. I had also realized that that People Search Engine only searches for people in the U.S.A., and that users have to pay to get all the info they ask for.
September. I was discussing business opportunities with a colleague. I suddenly realized I never received those promised 5! So, I checked my account and my stats. It now said 0, since a few people hade signed up using my forms and ended up in my downline. Cool. So where are my 150 bucks?
I scrolled down a little … and then I saw it. Tissa doesn’t pay anything until your earnings are 0 or more! Well, that explains it. And I guess this explains why he can go on offering people 5 within 24 hours. I suppose very few people reach the 0 barrier and give up.
I wouldn’t call this a scam. This Tissa Godavitarne doesn’t say he’s going to PAY you within 24 hours. Only that you’ll EARN a certain amount of money really fast. And sure, if you have the time to put a little effort into this, you CAN make big money using the system.
When I realized that I have to make another 50 bucks, I decided to work a little with Tissa’s system again. Who knows, maybe I’ve more luck getting hits this time.
